Another price drop.  When we are in the backyard with the kids over the summer, I find myself carrying popsicle wrappers, lunch remnants, and sucked down juice boxes into the house to throw away.  Not anymore!

Suncast Outdoor Trash Hideaway cleans up a “trashy” scene! Don’t worry, this “trashy cover-up” has nothing to with sleazeball politicians! In fact, the Suncast Outdoor Trash Hideaway is all about “keeping it clean”… your yard that is! This pleasing-to-the-eye Garbage Container goes together in minutes with NO tools and uses a standard 30 to 33-gallon trash bag. The latching lid not only looks good, but it helps control odors and prevents critters from scrounging through your garbage. The details: Long-lasting resin construction with solid bottom panel and a stylish design that looks great on your deck, patio or porch; Measures 31 x 15 x 16″ d.; Taupe color gets along with all sorts of styles and tastes.

POP love & Purging

This poor, neglected blog.  I have been busy purging and organizing.  I realized that I was wasting too much time looking for something.  “Where is my other shoe? Where is that paperwork? Are we out of chandelier light bulbs?”  The list goes on & on.   I needed to bite the bullet and toss, donate, and label my crap.  For far too long, we have been just throwing stuff in the unfinished part of the basement.  Nothing really had a home.  It is hard for me to tackle these tasks when the kids are around (which is ALWAYS) ,  so it is taking me much longer to complete.  I am also fixing up our pantry.  For the past year, I have been using a couple of the OXO POP containers for coffee & pasta, but I  have really fallen into a mad love affair with them.  I was so sick of finding cereal and crackers going stale because someone didn’t close up the bags properly.  What a waste, right?  Even though I think the containers are a tad pricey, they are worth it in the long run. They have an air-tight seal, and I love that you can see what is in them.   I bought a couple of less expensive options at IKEA, which are fine, but they are not my faves.  I scored the POP containers at HomeGoods, but if you aren’t lucky enough to frequent that store, you can find them at Amazon.  OXO Good Grips POP

Shoe Organizer – minus the shoes

Over The Door Clear Shoe Organizer/Storage Rack

I meant to buy one of these at the start of summer for sunscreen, bubbles, sunglasses, etc.  I was reminded of this as I was flipping through the Fall issue of Lowe’s Creative Ideas when I saw a picture of it being used for supplies instead of shoes. They labeled each pouch with painter’s tape, but if you buy a clear one, you shouldn’t need to label.  Summer is winding down, but there are many ways you can use one of these organizers.  By season – gloves/mittens, hats, wool socks, chapstick, hand sanitizer, tissues,  or Supplies for the family – scissors, glue, tape, paper clips, pens, pencils. The possibilities are endless!

HOUSE OF FIFTY

I wish I didn’t see this.

Now I want to move, or knock my house down and start over.  Some people are fine with leaving their rooms as is, year after year (nothing wrong with that).  I can’t say I am one of those people.  I am always looking to change something. It is a lil sickness.  In my defense, I make sure I get a good bang for my buck, and I re-use things in different rooms when I change color schemes.   I am really trying to hold myself at bay until after Christmas.  I can do it, right?  Right? RIGHT?????   (trying hard to convince myself)

House of Fifty is a new online magazine.  It is full of all things fabulous.  Click the pic to flip through Summer 2011.
